FUTO
An encounter with a single piece of fabric is the beginning of FUTO's craftsmanship. We are involved in manufacturing based on designs inspired by the handiwork of the people involved in fabric making and the techniques that have been passed down for generations.
Rather than pursuing productivity or rarity, we aim to be in harmony with nature and the flow of time. We discover practical and beautiful items in everyday life and deliver them in an easily accessible form.
We believe that things made with care and dedication possess a corresponding charm. We cherish the rich comfort that can be felt through touch and wearing.
High-Density Cotton - Hamamatsu, Japan
Everyday items call for a fine balance of durability and comfort. The fabric woven on traditional shuttle looms in Hamamatsu, part of the historic cotton-weaving region of Enshu, embodies just that. The high-density cotton has a crisp and clean finish, and when worn, feels soft against the body and moves comfortably with you.
Loopwheel Cotton Knit - Wakayama, Japan
Traditional loopwheel knitting machines are preserved only in Wakayama. These old machines knit slowly using the pull of gravity, creating fabric that is exceptionally soft and enduringly supple. Knit top pieces made from this material offer exceptional comfort. Loopwheel machines knit yarn in a relaxed state, without applying tension, while gently incorporating air into the fabric. As a result, the material does not stiffen even after repeated washing, retaining its fullness and softness.
Substantial Linen - Mumbai, India
With a natural weight and gentle expression unique to 100% linen, this fabric is soft and supple, and develops character with use. Using flax sourced from France, the yarns are spun and woven in India, where handcraftsmanship still thrives, to create a refined fabric. Because linen fibers hold air within them, the fabric offers excellent moisture absorption and quick-drying properties. Among natural fibers, it is especially strong, with a crisp, firm feel balanced by pleasant softness.
